A Pair of Arrests Following London Heathrow Irritant Spray Attack
Two more people are now in custody in connection with a robbery at Heathrow Airport where 21 people sustained injuries by a substance believed to be an irritant spray, as stated by law enforcement.
A man, 24, was taken into custody in the Lambeth area for suspected theft and assault and a 23-year-old woman was detained on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery. They both are still being held, the force said.
These detentions follow an investigation into an assault at the multi-level parking garage at Heathrow's Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Before the attack, a pair of female travelers were robbed of their suitcases upon exiting a parking garage elevator.
A toddler aged three was among the injured in the event. A total of five individuals went to hospital for treatment and have since been discharged.
Police arrested a man in his thirties on suspicion of theft and assault close to the scene. He was subsequently released under investigation while inquiries continue.
Authorities were alerted at about 08:10 GMT following reports of several individuals injured by an irritating chemical believed to be an irritant spray.
The attack - an event that authorities stated was a standalone incident and not being treated as an act of terror - caused delays to rail services and the partial closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park for a short time.
